Description

Sublingual Vitamin B12 Tablets Diet Suppliment

Sublingual Vitamin B12 Tablets

Vitamin B12, also known by health professionals as (cobalamin), is required to help cells function in certain areas of the body. This essential vitamin is necessary for both effective neurological functioning as well as being necessary for red blood cell formation. It helps maintain healthy nerve cells and red blood cells and is also needed to make DNA, the genetic material in all cells. Vitamin B12 is bound to the protein in food. Hydrochloric acid in the stomach releases B12 from protein during digestion. Once released, B12 combines with a substance called intrinsic factor (IF) before it is absorbed into the bloodstream.

Lack of Vitamin B12

A deficiency of Vitamin B12 in the blood can lead to a blood disorder called pernicious anemia. Those with the disorder are unable to produce enough of a protein substance - IF (intrinsic factor) in their stomach that allows their body to absorb vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 should be taken sublingually directly introducing the delivery to the patient's bloodstream, bypassing the stomach which is unable to absorb it properly.

Mild deficiencies of vitamin B-12

Deficiencies are fairly common, and are caused by inadequate intake, disease or a lack of the intrinsic factor. Common symptoms are fatigue and forgetfulness.

Vitamin B12 also helps to release energy.

The most common benefit of B12 is its ability to boost ones energy level, and speed up your metabolism. Patients who suffer with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome can make excellent use of B12 by taking the therapeutic amount. The therapeutic amount is 1000 milligrams. B12 has helped individuals feel less tired, and worn down.

Vitamin B12 Absorption

The actual absorption of B12 is also a problem with supplements. Swallowing 500 micrograms of cyanocobalamin can result in absorption of as little as 1.8 microgram so most multivitamins do not provide an adequate daily intake. The best approach is to dissolve a sublingual tablet of cyanocobalamin (1000 micrograms) under the tongue every day. That will be sufficient to maintain adequate body stores. However, if a deficiency is actually present then 2000 microgram/day for one month is recommended followed by 1000 microgram/day.

Some physicians still maintain that monthly injections of vitamin B12 is required to maintain adequate levels in the elderly and in patients with a diagnosed deficiency. There is however, no scientific evidence supporting the notion that injections are more effective than sublingual supplementation.
